Nicosia This Week began as the innocent creative endeavour of seven students at the Werkplaats Typografie. Thick with practical tips, some superfluous information, a bit of in-depth analysis and a little pretentious experimentation, it was intended to be an alternative guide to the city of Nicosia for the students and visitors of the much anticipated Manifesta 6 school. Following the abrupt cancellation of Manifesta 6 Nicosia This Week has now become one of the only existing historical documents of a potentially great event that never happened and a guide book to a city that will in all likelihood remain forever biennial-less. The book contains contributions by the three curators of the Manifesta 6: Mai Abu ElDahab, Anton Vidokle and Florian Waldvogel as well as Jan Verwoert, Paul Elliman, Yiannis Papadaki, Louise Tu' u and the participants of the Werkplaats Typografie.
